Review: My Year at the Ministry Training Program - Mark Holmes

The best thing about MTP

I really enjoyed the theological reflection times we had each week. The openness and honesty was really valuable and was a great opportunity to be able to support our fellow interns through prayer and discussion

Why I took a year off to do the MTP

I got the position of Assistant Youth Minister at St Mark’s and this was part of my role description to help further my knowledge of theology and ministry and I’m very glad they included it as it really did help further it more and helping me in preparing sermons and talks for the future.

5 Things I learnt about myself after doing the MTP

  1. I still have a lot of learning to do
  2. Ministry is hard
  3. Allow more room for letting God cause growth rather than relying a lot on my own abilities
  4. With God’s guidance and wisdom and support of others I can overcome my struggles
  5. I really love prepping for a sermon because I get to learn so much about God in doing so

What I learnt about God at the MTP

His big plan for saving us and how we must take this into account when telling others the good news of Jesus. He is completely sovereign and is not unaware of our problems, struggles and concerns.
