Adapting a program to fit your context

In this seminar Ger will share his experience of adapting Alpha to his context in Santa Monica

Ger is from England and was raised in a dynamic Christian home, with a father who was a pastor, church planter and missionary. Upon graduation from high school, Ger felt a strong call to be a ‘missionary in the workplace’, which led him to attend law school in Bristol, England. He began his legal career in London as a corporate lawyer, and for five years embraced the challenge of the legal practice and bringing Christ into his work environment. After marrying Lizzie in 2000 Ger transitioned out of law into brand management with Procter & Gamble relocating to their European head office in Geneva, Switzerland.

Over the course of 2004 God began to stir Ger’s heart towards laying down his career for full time ministry. At the end of that year, Ger and Lizzie moved with their two small children to seminary at Regent College, Vancouver where Ger could complete his M. Div and train in an inter- denominational evangelical context. After graduating, Ger was offered the position of Associate Pastor at Holy Trinity Church in Raleigh, North Carolina. After two years, Ger became the Interim Pastor and began to discern God’s call to plant a church in Los Angeles. This call was realized in January 2011 when Ger moved with his family (now three children) to Santa Monica where they began the process of planting Vintage Church.
